Laurel wilt disease present in ENC Redbay trees, caused by invasive beetle | WCTI

Laurel wilt, is affecting Redbay trees in the area. “Redbay trees that are infected with laurel wilt cling to their leaves even after the tree has died. It makes them easier to spot during the winter months when most other trees have lost their leaves,” said N. C. Forest Health Monitoring Coordinator Larry Long.

Bamboo -Phyllostachys vivax, the Chinese timber bamboo

In 2005 I planted a few small Phyllostachys vivax, the Chinese timber bamboo, in the back of my half-acre lot. It has been slowly forming a grove and the culms are becoming larger each season. The first culms are light green with a ring of powder where the sheaths drop off. They become a darker green as they harden and by the second season are a medium green.
Blooming today- an old purplish Rose ‘Veilchenblau’ (Rambling Rose)
Solomon Seal
Mexican Primrose along the street curb.
Oxalis
