Bamboo -Phyllostachys vivax, the Chinese timber bamboo

In 2005 I planted a few small Phyllostachys vivax, the Chinese timber bamboo, in the back of my half-acre lot. It has been slowly forming a grove and the culms are becoming larger each season. The first culms are light green with a ring of powder where the sheaths drop off. They become a darker green as they harden and by the second season are a medium green.
Blooming today- an old purplish Rose ‘Veilchenblau’ (Rambling Rose)
