A tree disease has shown up in Craven and Carteret counties for the first time, according to the N. C. Forest Service. Laurel wilt, is affecting Redbay trees in the area. “Redbay trees that are infected with laurel wilt cling to their leaves even after the tree has died. It makes them easier to spot during the winter months when most other trees have lost their leaves,” said N. C. Forest Health Monitoring Coordinator Larry Long.
