Spring has sprung!

Yesterday it was 79F. Today it is 54F. Therefore, I am not doing anything in the garden. But so many plants have begun to grow I had to share some pictures. I can’t believe we may have snow by Monday!

The Japanese Snowball bushes (Viburnum plicatum) are leafing out and have flower buds, too!

There is a German Iris blooming. This dark purple iris came originally from my mother’s garden in Morehead City.

And the oakleaf hydrangeas are leafing out, too!

I also found this new variety of Forsythia called ‘Magical’. The flowers are very large!

The old hellebore.

This is a hellebore I purchased at Lowe’s a few years ago. I am not sure of the name, if any, but it is now about 20 inches tall and about 24 inches wide. It produces white flowers around Christmas time that gradually fade to green by Spring. It has been a spectacular plant in spite of not have a pedigree!
