Ocracoke island trip pictures.

The island is at sea level and one of the buildings has signs which mark the depth of the water of past storms on the island.
The house where my grandmother grew up will be restored and become an inn with gardens.
The gardens called The Commons.
The Ocracoke lighthouse
During World War II a British ship was torpedoed off the coast and the soldiers died. The are laid to rest in the British Cemetery.
The island is very subtropical as it is surrounded by warm water. It is famous for its fig trees and fig preserves and fig cake.

  1. Great tour, and your grandmother’s house made it through all the hurricanes. I never knew about the British ship.
