View from the back porch!

View from the back porch! For scale, that is a concrete birdbath at the bottom which is about 2 feet in diameter.
On the left is a Paulownia tomentosa (Princess Tree). If cut to the ground each Fall it is prevented from producing the large purple trumpet flowers and seed which make it an invasive weed but it does shoot up to 10 or 15 feet from the stump with large umbrella sized leaves the next spring. Phyllostachys vivax, the Chinese timber bamboo, in the rear of the garden.

Bananas and other large leaves plants.

The heat, humidity, and plenty of rain has produced a very lush garden here in Raleigh. North Carolina. The other large leaves plant are Paulownia tomentosa, common names princess tree, empress tree, or foxglove-tree. They grow very fast if you cut them to a stump each year and this prevents them blooming and becoming weedy reseeders!
