On the left is a Paulownia tomentosa (Princess Tree). If cut to the ground each Fall it is prevented from producing the large purple trumpet flowers and seed which make it an invasive weed but it does shoot up to 10 or 15 feet from the stump with large umbrella sized leaves the next spring. Phyllostachys vivax, the Chinese timber bamboo, in the rear of the garden.
Nice! What is the plant to the left with big leaves? Is that Tithonia?

The larger leaved plant on the left is Paulownia tomentosa (Princess Tree). If you cut it down to a stump each Fall it prevents it from blooming and becoming a weedy reseeded but you miss out on the blooms. It reacts by shooting up to 10 or 15 feet with large umbrella sized leaves!
