Sensitive Fern

Sensitive Fern (Onoclea sensibilis)

Sensitive Fern (Onoclea sensibilis) – named because the lightest frost will damage the fronds. In a moist location it can grown aggressively into large clumps. The fertile fronds stand tall above the fronds and resemble telephone poles as the fertile capsule are folded upwards and may be as tall as 18 inches. These persist throughout the winter.
