Gus’s continued recovery! Fall things.

Gus

Gus has continued to recover well. Friday the staples were removed from both incision sites on his leg. He has lost about 7 pounds but is eating healthy and is beginning to walk on the leg again.

When the temperatures are high he enjoys the cool tile floor in the bathroom or kitchen floor in front of the HVAC vent.

Spices…….

I stopped by Penzey’s Spices in Cameron Village Shopping Center Friday after Gus’s visit to the vet hospital to smell the herbs and spices and see if there was anything I might want? They have some nice boxed spice that would make great gifts. It’s hard to believe Christmas is only two months away!

NC Farmers Market

I also stopped by the NC Farmers Market. Pumpkins and apples are in! I think the white pumpkins are so unusual! They have all kinds of apples, gourds, and tons of other Fall things.

It’s the first time I have been there on a week day in a while and it was pretty busy. I was amazed by some very large marigolds.

Gus and his surgery.

Gus tore his ACL in his knee last week. Monday he had surgery to reshape the knee joint to prevent it from happening in the future. He came home Tuesday and has been very drowsy because of the Fentanyl patch which is used for pain management.

He is more alert that the patch is running out and is standing. It will take about 10 days before he will begin using the leg again and then he will progressively use it more. The bad news- he will probably tear the other ACL in his right knee some time in the future. At $2,500 per surgery it is not something I look forward to happening again!

I am glad my gardening friend it better and will soon join me outside again!

Fentynal patch, which is for pain, is removed on the third day.
