Staycation day 5!

20120504-081543.jpg
It’s day five of my staycation. A lot of garden task completed but it seems like there is always something else to do! The temps have been in the 90s the last few days and that has kept me inside during most of the day.

I think Gus has enjoyed me being home!

I did spend Wednesday, which was my birthday, at Sarah P Duke Gardens in Durham and the NC Botanical Gardens in Chapel Hill.

More hardscape work.

I like the clean lines a brick border achieves and it doesn’t hurt that a huge stack of bricks behind the old greenhouse when I purchased the house!

I thought I would try Guara in the garden by the street. It’s dry out there and I don’t water so often since past droughts have forced the city to ration water in the summers. I’m also planting the tried and true marigold along the patio. I purchased a flat of mixed color from the Raleigh Farmers Market.

The NC Farmers Market was busy for a weekday.
