More Spring bloomers are making an appearance. Daffodils and crocus but also a Iris reticulata. This species tends to putter out after a few season and this is the only one I have seen this year out of the dozen I planted a few years ago.
A unique daffodil:
More daffodils:
Digging in the yard and garden of this house built in 1959 I find many unusual things.
I found this sock today in the vegetable garden. The raised beds were filled with bags of garden soil years ago so I guess it has been in there for a few years!
A few days ago I was leveling a stepping stone a mole had disturbed and found concrete with a pipe sticking out of it. I guess the previous owner had some sort of bird feeder or plant hanger? Or she may have placed it there to support this camellia?
I usually find a brick or a piece of pipe placed next most of the old shrubs in the yard. When the neighborhood was built in late 1959 this was way out in the country! Now it is only a few miles from the old downtown area.
Has my dog been to your garden? She is always planting socks, balls and other treasures in my most manicured flower bed.
What is the daffodil variety? Love it!.

Ha! My gus doesn’t usually does not steal clothes but he is always taking sticks to one corner of the yard and makes a pile to chew on later.

Maybe I should start looking for all the missing mates of my sock singles out in the garden. That’s a nice iris, I bet a whole swath of them would look great.

That sock had to have been in a bag of Miracle Grow garden soil because soil in that raised bed was all from a bag!

My friend and I saw some purple tulips in the store the other day. I’m excited to see your purple flower!

Iris reticulata is a pretty little 6 inch tall iris but, unfortunately, they usually die out in a few seasons so here in NC you have to replant then every few years.

I am over the top in a good mood today to realize that daffodils are back. That can only mean one thing to me!!! Sandal season is coming!

Haha! True! Here in NC some wear them year ’round. Especially, on the coast where the weather is very mild!
