My birthday was May 1st so we took a three day trip to the coast of North Carolina. It’s been two decades since I left coastal North Carolina to attend East Carolina University and Morehead City has not changed much. I am more of a big city guy than a small town guy. I only miss the water…
The Morehead City Waterfront
Atlantic Beach and Fort Macon, North Carolina
On the way back to Raleigh we stopped in Historic New Bern, North Carolina to visit Tyron Palace. You might recognize the former governor’s mansion as the backdrop for the Sleepy Hollow tv program with Tom Mison.
And near by gardens-
So much history!
We stopped on the way back to Raleigh in Greenville, NC where I attended East Carolina University, for Mongolian Grill food!
I will welcome my own bed tonight!
looks like a great trip except for that big snake at the fort. Yikes!!

What a great trip! And such good photos too. I loved the white houses and would love to live in one like that. Glad you had a Happy Birthday….I could just eat that fab plate of food!

Civil war history is so cool but I grew up their so it’s not special to me. Andy has never been so that was fun!

I love both Carolinas…such pretty coastlines!
The pink peony picture reminded me how much I miss growing that incredibly gorgeous flower! I had tons of them in my Massachusetts front yard, but haven’t attempted any here. Once in a while I see a pot of them on a patio, but no one seems to grow them in ground!

Our weather is usually too warm for them so growing them in pots so the roots freeze helps!
